Indian weddings as most of you know are spread out and have various functions involved. The three main being the mehendi, the sangeet or cocktail and the wedding. Attending the wedding festivities requires an assortment of ensembles and looks. After deciding on the event outfit I find it difficult to decide on the makeup look, especially last-minute and end up doing the same style very often. Thus I have researched to find some very interesting makeup looks for each event.
Today I will be listing 5 of my favorite makeup looks for the mehendi function and in the following beauty posts I will cover the other wedding events. I have also mentioned the ensemble colours you can pair the looks with. Go ahead and have fun.
1. SMUDGED BLUE EYELINER WITH BRIGHT LIPS
Indian makeup artist Elton J Fernandez’s mehendi look is as pretty and simple as it gets. The bright lips with simple eyes looks good on almost everybody. You can pair this look with the pink, brighter yellows or white ensembles.
2. GOLDEN SMOKEY EYE WITH NUDE LIPS
Sineady has created a universal look which really suits Indian skin tones. You could wear this look with any colour outfit which has a hint of gold in it. This makeup will not look smart with an entirely gold outfit though.
3. COPPER GRAPHIC EYELINER WITH MONOTONE LIPS
This look by Sharon though swank is a tough one to carry. Pick a rusty copper tone eyeliner to pair with a blue outfit with red contrast detailing or with toned down orange ensembles. You could try the same technique with a different colour story too.
4. SUMMERY PURPLE EYE WITH LIGHT LIPS
The Tumblr inspired makeup look is young and fresh. You could pick a more light pink tone lipstick instead of the white toned as shown in the video. This look will pair well with pastel pink, pastel green and pastel yellow shade outfits.
5. NATURAL LOOK
This ‘no makeup’ makeup look is very subdued but for a person who loves her naturals this is the way to go. Pair it with almost any colour, but avoid it with a glistening diamante outfits.
The above looks are aimed at the women in the bridal party as most brides go for heavier looks. You could also use the above videos as a guide if using a professional artist. These makeup styles are not limited to be worn just for the mehendi. Sineady’s gold eyes for example can be worn for the sangeet or wedding functions too. It all depends on your outfit and personal style. I would suggest young bridesmaids to experiment with colours and styles, customise the makeup to suit your personality. But once in a while break away from the mould too. Have fun. 😉
P.S. Most of these vidoes are by international vloggers and you might not find the exact makeup product in India. Also please try out the makeup colours to see if they suit you before investing in them.
