Favourite – International Beauty Vloggers

I was in double minds about doing this post as I refer to these beauty vloggers (video bloggers) for my Beauty Roundup posts. I was skeptical that once part of the source is revealed you might not come back to the blog. But I realised that the beauty posts on AKI 1 a.m. are much more than just the vloggers. To compile a post I have to surf through numerous videos, follow hundreds of vloggers, keep updated with the happenings on YouTube and carefully select the videos that best reflect the post’s topic. Though the following are masters at what they do I have to refer to other vloggers on certain topics for more indepth information or a different makeup look.

The beauty sector has seen a rise in the number of vloggers and subscribers. I am not going into details about how the vlogging industry works and the statistics. You could read this article for further information. I would just like to warn you that certain vlogs (vlogger posts) or vloggers make paid videos promoting certain brands, they state that the views are their own but sometimes the praise just seems fake. While choosing a product based on vlogger review it’s best not to rely on just one review but check a few more before the final decision.

The following are 5 of my favourite international beauty vloggers on YouTube. I have used the ‘No Makeup’ makeup tutorials from each of them for the post.

Lisa is my top favorite with her extensive experience as a professional makeup artist for editorials, brands and celebrities. She is presently the Global Creative Director of Lancome makeup. Lisa”s book on the history of makeup ‘ Facepaint- The Story of Makeup’ is scheduled for release in October 2015.  Her tutorials are in-depth and replete with information. She has her hand set on the pulse of makeup trends, her’s was the first Youtube video with a thorough explanation of the now famous Korean beauty trend. Along with products and techniques used on herself, Lisa discusses options for various other skin tones and skin types. Though her videos are longer in length, she has a sense of composure that makes you want to see them. Also the application techniques used are easily achievable.

Michelle is a self-professed beauty junkie. Her videos feature all things makeup– drugstore brands, high street brands, product reviews, recommendations, basic makeup techniques to experimental makeup tutorials. She has an energetic down-to-earth vibe. I also like the fact that with her olive skin tone most of the product shades used matches the Indian skin-tones. A lot of makeup looks are eye-centric , but with her Persian eyes they look awesome. Depending on your facial features you can easily tweak the makeup placement. Michelle’s product reviews are one of the best on Youtube that I have come across, it is honest and reliable.

Teni is the person I would definitely have been friends with had we been in the same social circle. On further research I found out that Teni wears many hats. Along with being a YouTube vlogger she is also an actress and an animal activist. Her casual manner makes her videos easy to follow. Her recent collaboration with Target made for fun price friendly fashion and makeup videos. Teni’s techniques involve minimal number of brushes and a mix of quick and detailed steps. She also addresses skin and lifestyle issues in an assuasive manner. Her makeup style is more classic, less experimental, which makes them wearable for most occasions.

Wayne Goss is beyond the regular YouTube beauty vlogger! Wayne is a makeup artist with over 15 years of experience. He was self taught then went to makeup school and regularly updates himself with makeup seminars. Initially I was skeptical about his channel, seeing a male apply eye shadow on himself was odd. But the more videos I saw the more information I gained. His boisterous dialogs are no-holds-barred and might seem rough in the start. But trust me- the techniques and tips he gives are amazing. He has a mix of elaborate discussion videos along with short to-the-point videos. He demonstrates on himself, on models, everyday young women and even older ladies, that is a great mix for a makeup channel.

Adriana’s video on gel eyeliner was the first YouTube video I linked to on this blog. Adriana is a high school student from Croatia with a fast growing list of subscribers. Her video style has evolved over the period of time, from using only drugstore products and basic techniques to using high street brands and advanced techniques. Her videos involve diverse eye makeup looks with quick applications, taking usually less than fifteen minutes for the full face makeup.
